After the joys of Bath, today felt like five steps backwards, have we learnt anything from this season...
The focus is different, the new pieces are starting to fit, and juniors are realising potential......
The hard work and effort from everyone is showing improvements, but....

Bristol Storm 58 vs Team Solent 66
After the humbling experience the week before against Chichester, better things were expected from the coaches after a good week at training.
Unfortunately things did not start that way the coaches had anticipated, and this was further compounded with the loss of Bear Hampton to an injury.
The first half was a continual rotation of players for Storm as the coaches tried to find players who could not only play defence but also look after the ball and execute the offence, but it just wasn't happening. Half time came and the Bristol performance had shown nothing to be proud of and as a result saw the team fifteen down.
Coach Brock started the second half with Hamilton, Fox, Williams, Powell, and Pritchard, with the clear instructions to get control on defence, and led by Williams, Pritchard and Hamilton the team did just that, which created turnover ball for Storm to finally get points off transition.
With Solent now having to work to score and also work on defence the game opened up to suit Bristol and for the next fifteen minutes Storm played some of the best basketball they had all season, and on several occasions the team got the lead down to five, but it was just that little to much against the experience of Solent.
'After the game it was mentioned that we hadn't made a change during the entire second half, and to be honest I have thought about this a lot and if I did it again I wouldn't have made a change, we finally found five players who we could trust to do what we wanted and we got the performance. We now need to find a way of getting the entire squad to perform when we put them in, get them to bring something positive to the floor.'

LOCAL LEAGUE - Storm 1
Storm 1 88 vs Newport 61
Finally a convincing win but far from a performance the coaches were looking for from the squad players trying to establish themselves in the national league twelve.
The performance was scrappy and the amount of turnover ball was unbelievably high, and against a better team would have resulted in another defeat - probably explains why we have lost five games already.
The problem we have is there are not enough coaches to look after every team at the moment and the senior players are struggling with a heavy load at the moment and as such the new pieces are not learning their roles in the local league games, so when it comes to national league they still have the bad habits, can't play solid defence or run the offences.
Some of the pieces we have are just are not Storm players, and we can't wait much longer for them to adapt.
